Lionsgate hat einen ersten TV-Spot zu Gods of Egypt von Regisseur Alex Proyas, bekannt für innovative Filme wie The Crow: Die Krähe (1994), Dark City (1998) oder I, Robot (2004), veröffentlicht. Der neue TV-Spot konzentriert sich besonders auf die gewaltigen Schlachten aber gibt auch einen kleinen Ausblick auf die Unterwelt und den Himmel, welche die Helden des antiken Ägypten und seine Göttern besuchen werden. Gerard Butler spielt Set, den grausamen Gott des Chaos‘ und Verderbens, welcher nach seinem Aufstieg auf den Thron Ägyptens eine Schreckensherrschaft der Dunkelheit führt, bis der junge Sterbliche Bek (Brenton Thwaites) mit Hilfe des Gottes Horus (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) eine Rebellion anzettelt, um den grausamen Herrscher zu stürzen.
Auch wenn die Handlung wie jeder 08/15 Schwert-und-Sandalenfilm klingt, scheint Regisseur Alex Proyas dem Film einen ganz besonderen Charme zu verpassen. Voller visueller Effekte, greller Farben und extravagantem Design könnte uns eine weitere Perle des Kinos erwarten.
